5 v 5 Women's March Madness - Run 'n Gun Tournament 

 


DATE: Saturday March 11th
FEE: 
$75 per field player
$60 cost to those individuals who are registered with a team of 5 - 8 players
*Online registration or cash, no cheques please
**Stick and mouth guard required, goggles encouraged but optional

TIME AND LOCATION: 
9 AM to 4 PM, registration at 8:30 AM
Oshawa Civic Recreation Complex (Indoor Fieldhouse)
99 Thornton Road South, Oshawa, Ontario                       

ELIGIBILITY:           
U11 (Grades 3 &4) - U13 (Grades 5 & 6) - U15 (Grades 7 & 8) - U19 (Grades 9 to 12)

PROGRAM:
The 2017 Edge spring clinic instruction will be provided by Edge Coaches Corina Mahorn (Detroit Mercy) and Jordan Lyons (U19 Team Canada, UMBC and Trent University) along with special Edge alum guest coaches. Coaches will provide the girls with individual attention, while giving them the opportunity to develop their individual skills and team play.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Skills Session (9 AM - 12 PM)
The morning will be divided into sessions of skill development to enhance individual play as well as small strategy and game-like drills to teach the concepts of team play. U11s, U13s and U15s will work on a variety of drills and lead up games in competitive environment. Much focus will be on shooting skills (ex. quick stick, side arm), and defensive strategy (ex. communication terms, double teams, slides). U19s will focus on build-in drills (ex. man up, man down) and full field transition drills under pressure and at game speed. ALL age groups will break for a one hour lunch period from 12 PM to 1 PM. Players should either arrive with a packed lunch or, parents please be prepared to take your players to eat/bring them food. There is a mall with a food court located one kilometer east of the Oshawa Civic.

WHAT TO EXPECT: 5V5 (1 PM - 4 PM)
The afternoon will consist of a 5v5 tournament (4 field players and one goalie) and will feature four divisions; U11, U13, U15 and U19. Each team can carry a maximum of 8 players and you will indicate your teammates on the online application form. If you register with a 5v5 team of no less than 5 players, a discounted clinic cost of $60 per player is in effect. Individual players without a team will be added to the 'house' teams. Each participant must sign up individually, indicating the same "team name" on the online application. Prizes go to the teams who come in 1st and 2nd place.

All players will leave with a prize package!
